Description
Users who need (or will need) a voice for assistive communication. This includes people who have been diagnosed with ALS/MND, people who face other voice/speech-threatening conditions, and people who are already dysarthric and plan to download a proxy or donor voice.
Someone who is recording to provide a voice for another specific individual who is unable to bank his or her own voice. For example, you might be providing a voice for a brother|sister|father|mother|friend who is unable to record but wants a voice that has the same dialect and similar sounding speech.
Adults, Teens, or Children who are able to provide high quality audio recordings that we can make available more generally to clients in need of a voice that is age, gender, and dialect appropriate. Donated voices are also used in our research to improve speech synthesis quality and naturalness and may contribute more broadly to speech synthesis research.
Professionals such as Speech/Language Pathologists, Speech Therapists, Physicians, or other clinical staff working with clients who have ALS/MND or other communication needs.
Friends or family members of a voice banker who want to assist the voice banker with recording. For example, someone who is helping to get a computer set up for a voice banker who is uncomfortable working with computers and audio.
